The assistant is a free chat-based helper that knows every tool on KeyboardTester.click and can walk you through any hardware diagnostic in plain language. Instead of browsing a menu of 37+ tools, you describe what's wrong — a sticky space bar, a dead pixel on your monitor, one earbud that sounds muffled, a mouse that sometimes double-clicks — and the assistant points you to the exact test, explains how to run it, and interprets the result once you come back with numbers. It runs on a fast Groq-hosted language model and responds in roughly a second. No sign-up, no credit card, no install.
Hardware diagnostics are full of jargon that only makes sense if you already know what you're looking for. Terms like "N-key rollover", "input latency", "polling rate", "PPI", "ghosting", "dead vs. stuck pixel", "1% low frame time" all matter when you're picking the right test, but they're barriers when you just want to know whether your keyboard is broken. The assistant translates between everyday language ("keys feel weird", "screen looks funny in one corner") and the specific test that will answer your question. It also knows when a combination of tests is needed — for example, a "my mouse is inaccurate" complaint often resolves into the DPI tester plus the mouse-acceleration test plus the polling-rate test.
Ask in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, or Arabic. The AI detects your chosen language from the 🌐 button and replies in the same language, with localized tool URLs that route you to the translated version of the site where available. The prompt engineering includes inline localization rules so the links in the AI's responses always go to the right language directory (e.g. /languages/spanish/) when a localized version of the tool exists.
Conversations are stored only in your browser's localStorage — clearing the page or opening an incognito window wipes them. Messages are sent to Groq's LLM API to generate the reply, and neither the site nor Groq use that data to train future models (per Groq's API terms of service). The site does not log chat content server-side beyond a 12-message-per-minute rate-limit counter tied to your session, which exists only to prevent abuse and resets every minute. No account, no email, no identifier is required to chat.
If you already know which test you need — for example, you're here because a friend said "run the dead-pixel test" — just click through the sidebar or tool index. The assistant adds value when (a) you're not sure which tool fits your symptom, (b) you want a human-style explanation of a result, (c) you want to compare two tools ("what's the difference between mouse-test and ghost-click-detector?"), or (d) English is not your first language and you want to chat in your own. For every other case, the tools themselves are self-explanatory and one click faster.
The assistant is scoped to hardware testing on this site. It will politely decline questions about politics, homework, coding help, travel, or anything else off-topic — if you want a general AI chatbot, ChatGPT and Claude are better choices. It can be wrong about edge cases, especially on niche hardware (uncommon gaming controllers, professional audio interfaces), so treat its recommendations as a starting point rather than a verdict. Rate limit is 12 messages per minute to keep the service free; heavy users should spread out their questions. The model behind it is a mid-sized LLM, not GPT-4 or Claude Opus — fast and cheap enough to keep free, but not state-of-the-art reasoning.
