Privacy Policy
KeyboardTester.click provides free browser-based tools for testing keyboards, mice, audio, and more. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the disclosures we make to comply with FTC guidance.
Summary
- We do not record or store your keystrokes. Keyboard input stays in your browser for testing.
- We use analytics and cookies to understand site usage and improve performance.
- We may use ads or affiliate links and will disclose them clearly.
- Blog comments are reviewed before publication. You can comment without creating an account, and an optional email address is never shown publicly.
Information We Collect
We keep collection minimal. We may collect the following:
- Usage data: Page views, device type, browser type, and approximate location (city/region) from standard analytics tools.
- Cookies and similar technologies: Used for preferences (like theme) and analytics.
- Contact information (if you send it): If you email us or submit feedback, we receive the details you provide.
- Blog comments (if you submit one): We receive the display name, comment, and optional email address you choose to provide. We also create short-lived pseudonymous anti-abuse hashes from request data, but do not store the raw IP address with your comment.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect or store the actual keys you press in the keyboard tester.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data.
How We Use Information
- To improve site performance and fix issues.
- To understand which tools are most useful.
- To respond to support requests or feedback.
- To review, publish, manage, and protect blog discussions from spam or abuse.
Blog Comments
Comments are available on English blog articles. No Google or other social sign-in is required. Every visitor comment is held for manual approval before it can appear publicly.
- Public after approval: Your chosen display name, comment text, and submission date may be shown below the article and in a recent-comments highlight on the English blog landing page.
- Kept private: An optional email address is visible only in our protected moderation panel. It is not published, used for Gravatar, or sold.
- Spam prevention: We use Cloudflare Turnstile, a pseudonymous browser identifier, rate limits, and temporary keyed hashes to deter automated or repeated abuse.
- Moderation: We may approve, decline, mark as spam, or remove comments. Approved author replies are clearly labelled.
Analytics and Session Tools
We use third-party analytics tools to understand site usage:
- Microsoft Clarity: Records anonymized session replays and heatmaps to help us improve the user experience. Clarity may set cookies and collect standard usage data such as pages visited, device type, and interaction patterns.
- Google Analytics: Collects aggregated site usage data including page views, session duration, and traffic sources. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users.
We use these tools for site improvement only and do not use them to identify individual users.
Google AdSense and Advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our site. Google AdSense is a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC. Here is how it works:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Personalized advertising: Google may use information about your browsing activity to show you ads that are more relevant to your interests. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Third-party ad vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site. You can visit the Digital Advertising Alliance YourAdChoices control page to opt out of third-party cookies used for personalized advertising.
For more information about how Google uses data when you use our site, visit Google's Privacy & Terms page.
Yandex Advertising Network
For visitors for whom Yandex advertising is enabled, we may use the Yandex Advertising Network (YAN) to display and measure advertisements. Yandex and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies and process information such as IP address, approximate location, browser and device information, pages viewed, and ad interactions for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and, where permitted, personalization.
YAN is not currently active on KeyboardTester.click. We will not load Yandex advertising code unless the site has been approved and any legally required notices and consent choices are in place. Learn more in the Yandex Ads Privacy Policy.
Affiliate Disclosure (FTC)
To keep the site free, we may also use affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We will clearly label or disclose affiliate links and sponsored content when present.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Our Amazon links are ordinary outbound links and do not load Amazon product widgets on KeyboardTester.click. If you follow one, Amazon may process the referral identifier and information about your visit under its own privacy practices.
Third-Party Links
Our site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before using those sites.
Cookies and Your Choices
Our site uses the following types of cookies:
- Essential storage: Stores your theme preference (dark/light mode) in localStorage. On comment-enabled articles, a random first-party cookie that expires after 30 days helps prevent duplicate and abusive submissions. It is not used for advertising.
- Analytics cookies: Set by Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site.
- Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense and its partners to serve relevant advertisements. These cookies may track your browsing activity across multiple websites.
- Yandex advertising storage (only if YAN is enabled): Yandex and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and permitted personalization. Where consent is legally required, Yandex advertising code will not load until the required choice is available.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies specifically. Disabling cookies may affect site features such as saved preferences and ad personalization. You can also opt out of Google's personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
Data Retention
We keep analytics data only as long as needed for performance and reporting. If you contact us, we retain communications only as needed to respond and provide support.
For blog comments, anti-abuse and duplicate-detection hashes are cleared after 30 days, and optional email addresses are cleared after 90 days. Unreviewed comments are moved to Trash after 90 days; Spam and Trash records are deleted after a further 30 days. Approved public comments may remain with the article until they are removed through moderation or after a valid deletion request.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No online service is 100% secure, so we encourage safe browsing practices.
Children's Privacy
KeyboardTester.click is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
