Lip Sync Test

A visual marker reaches the centre every two seconds while a short beep plays. Adjust the sound until it seems aligned. The result is your applied compensation, not an automatic measurement of device latency.

Browser rendering, audio buffers, attention and perception affect alignment. It cannot diagnose a TV pipeline, measure HDMI latency automatically or guarantee the same timing in a different app. Hidden tabs stop playback.

How to use this test

01 Start test Start at a comfortable low volume. Watch the centre marker and listen for the beep using your normal speakers or headphones.
02 Comparison Move the timing slider until sound and the centre marker seem simultaneous. Positive values delay sound; negative values play it earlier. Use the number field for fine adjustments.
03 Stop Save a reading, change one output path such as wired to Bluetooth, then reset and repeat. Compare several passes and stop playback when finished.

Tool FAQ

Common questions

What does this test measure?

A visual marker reaches the centre every two seconds while a short beep plays. Adjust the sound until it seems aligned. The result is your applied compensation, not an automatic measurement of device latency.

Is this the same as an audio latency test?

No. This is a subjective audio/video alignment check. An acoustic round-trip latency test uses a speaker and microphone and measures a different path.

Can I use it as a Bluetooth audio delay test?

You can compare wired and Bluetooth output with the same browser and display. A larger correction is a clue, not a calibrated codec delay. App-specific video compensation may differ.
